Tuition Bursary Terms and Conditions

The Return of Service agreement in this bursary helps align HCA graduates with approved continuing care operators who need more Health Care Aides in Alberta.

 By accepting funds from the Tuition Bursary, you agree to the following key terms:

  • You must complete your HCA program within 18 months of starting, including passing the Provincial exam.
  • You are required to begin employment as a Certified HCA with an approved continuing care operator within two months of graduation.
  • You must work 2,000 hours within two years plus two months after graduation, at an approved continuing care operator. This requirement applies to part-time, full-time, or casual positions in any capacity.
  • After graduation, bursary recipients must find their own employment with an employer from the approved continuing care operator list.

These terms are explained in the Return of Service Agreement (RSA) document. You must sign an RSA with NorQuest College, which will be required for submission later in the application process.

Repayment Policy

If you do not fulfill the requirements of the Return of Service Agreement (RSA), you will be required to repay the bursary amount received. The repayment may be pro-rated based on the formula outlined in the RSA.

Repayment Deadline

If repayment is required, the amount must be paid to NorQuest College within 30 days. Applicants may also have the option to enroll in a repayment plan.

Are you a Workplace Bursary or Financial Incentive Program recipient?

While these bursaries are no longer being offered, we are still supporting recipients as they complete their bursary cycle. You can log into the application portal to check your status and review your Return of Service Agreement (RSA).

Workplace Bursary Terms and Conditions

By accepting the Workplace Tuition Bursary funds, you agree to the following key terms:

  • You must complete your HCA program within 12 months of starting, including passing the Provincial exam.
  • You must work 1,000 work hours within one year plus two months after graduation, at an approved continuing care operator. This requirement applies to part-time, full-time, or casual positions in any capacity.

These terms are explained in the Return of Service Agreement (RSA) document that you signed with NorQuest College.


Financial Incentive Program (FIP) Terms and Conditions

By accepting the FIP Bursary funds, you agree to the following key terms:

  • You must complete a minimum of 1,000 work hours with an approved continuing care operator within one year of starting employment. This requirement applies to part-time, full-time, or casual positions in any capacity.

These terms are explained in the Return of Service Agreement (RSA) document that you signed with NorQuest College.
